Sailing yacht Meermin II was launched on 19 June 1962 and a month later, sea trials took place on the North Sea near IJmuiden. The shipyard ledgers show that during this trial run, fl. 37.15 was spent on various drinks (€115.82 adjusted). On 14 August 1962, the yacht was transferred to the owner at the shipyard in Aalsmeer and that same evening Meermin II left for Amsterdam via the Ringvaart.
