The 12.95-metre Shamrock I was built by Akerboom, a Dutch shipbuilding dynasty from the south Holland town of Lisse. One of the original founders of Feadship in 1949, the Akerbooms are inextricably linked to the Van Lent Family through craftsmanship and marriage. Akerboom remained part of the Feadship family until March 1968.
